Herbal Incense or Spice is a new drug that is being used by individuals that is currently legal to possess in the state of NH but has been shown to have serious side effect.
Spice is a label given to herbal incense products, some marketed under the same name. It is labeled "not for human consumption" and therefore not evaluated by the FDA, and therefore is not required to have ingredients listed. The product is an olive green leafy material similar to Marijuana or oregano. Many of the "herbal" substances used in the production of this product have psychoactive properties on their own. Some products include synthetic cannabinoid compounds.
Effects from use, which is commonly smoked in a pipe, is described as being similar to marijuana, to include giddiness, impaired short term memory. Other side effects include cottonmouth, light sensitivity, paranoia, delirium, panic attacks, sleeplessness, and time distortion. Swelling on the brain and adverse effects of the circulatory system have also been noted.
